Venice, Part 1: Getting There/The Hotel

The great thing about finishing my film early is that I can get back to the other pressing projects in life, especially fun projects like posting all of the photos from our recent getaway to Venice!

John and I visited Venice for 2 nights, thanks to a lovely web-fare from Ryanair.com. Although it was a quick trip, we took complete advantage of our time there: We walked incessantly for 2 days, we soaked up the unbelievable imagery of a city built on water, and most importantly, we traded in our hectic London lifestyles for the more subdued gentility of Italy.

It was a magical 2 days, and Venice is a city I would recommend to everyone! Enjoy the enormous number of images that I have divided into themes: Getting There/The Hotel, San Marco, Walking Around, Murano, Scenes from a Water Taxi, Details, and The Plane Home.

Me at Stansted airport, coffee in hand. Imitation frappe, taken in honor of our friend Dan Young, currently writing a book on Frappe Culture. John enjoying his coffee. The tickets that took us to Venice! Long live cattle car flights!
The view from our hotel room. The tower poking out behind John's head is in San Marco, a stone's throw away! View from our room! The street below... so narrow and so Venetian! John in front of our hotel.
Our room, with very traditional decor. The Christmas window display at our hotel. More of the Christmas display. John in front of the hotel at night.
A special authentic Italian pizza dinner we brought back to our hotel room one night! Mmmm delicious! John displays our huge room key. John enjoying our over-the-top buffet breakfast. Me, at breakfast, getting my Nutella fix.
