Venice, Part 3: Walking Around (continued)

There was so much to see, so many streets, so many shops... and not a single car!

We couldn't quite put our finger on what it was about Venice that made it so special (besides the fact that it is surrounded by water!), but it finally hit us when we reached the end of the trip and boarded the bus back to the airport. We hadn't dealt with anything faster than a human or a gondola on most city "streets" in two days, and it was such an amazing feeling...

Here are more photos from our walks around town.

Ok, I admit it, I was drooling when I took this photograph. But just look at him, will ya? Luckily John was kind enough to hand me a napkin... We get down with the "locals". They pose every single person the same way. Just like Disneyworld! Views of the Grand Canal, Venice's busiest "highway".
Views of the Grand Canal, Venice's busiest "highway". Me and John on the Rialto Bridge, overlooking the Grand Canal. At times, it felt like a movie set, it was so beautiful. A Venetian "bus stop", where you can catch the water-taxis up and down the Grand Canal.
School children enjoy the sunshine. John also enjoying the sunshine! A Venetian driveway! Now that's a small alley!
Really beautiful part of town, near the museums. Me in the courtyard of the Peggy Guggenheim Modern Art Collection in Venice. One of numerous churches throughout the city. Practicing Italian on the "bus" back to the hotel.
And what a bus ride it was! The scenery is just plain stunning. The scenery is just plain stunning. Back on shore, a visit to the souvenir stands.
Will the eye-candy ever end? One of my favorite store windows, located on the same street as our hotel. More fun browsing... And then we saw the "real thing" walking in San Marco Square!
Very historic tea in full costume!

Hi Marjan joon :-) So glad your Mom gave me your website. Looks like life is good. I was in Venice at age 14 and to this day, remember this door you're standing by. The mesh iron one with glass-like stones set in it. I'll be visiting your site often to learn about your accomplishments. Be happy. All my love - Khaleh Tima
