Paris or Bust, Part 2!

On our second morning in Paris, we left our hotel and stumbled upon a Saturday morning farmers market, or marché. We were treated to a true feast of the senses and were even invited to hang out with the local organic egg farmer who was giving away soft-boiled eggs, country bread, cheese and delicious Beaujolais Nouveau wine.

We also made our way to the Eiffel Tower, and later walked down memory lane to other spots on my Rediscover Paris tour (more on that later).

Here's a glimpse at our day...

Fresh fruits and veg. Line at the butcher's. Yummy foods. Fresh sausages.
Cheeses galore! Our favorite vendor! She fed us for half an hour and didn't want a dime!! Later, we meandered through the hilly streets of north Paris on our way to Sacre Coeur Basilica in Montmartre. Check out the slope on this street.
A wonderful art market awaits you at the top. John admires the city. A funny troupe of blue-wigged men. The jewel of northern Paris, Sacre Coeur.
And the view from the top... We had done so much walking the day before that we cheated and rode back down. The carousel at the bottom (made famous in the film Amelie). I rode it when I was little! We had to stop off and eat another crepe! They're the ultimate food.
What a flip! That takes talent. Later: what is John looking at? Oh! I see! Classic shot!
I have been working out a lot... It's really big at the base! WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT? One of our favorite Parisian sightings: a garbage "can" every 10 feet. London definitely needs to learn how to implement this!
Much to our surprise, a marching band arrived and brought cheer to the scene. The crowd loved them. And they injected a bit of bright color into the otherwise grey day. Of course, there were also the machine-gun toting military dudes to remind us that we were "safe". Yikes!
John is getting hungry again... Is cotton candy really that bad for you?
