Did I Mention...

... that I'm visiting Tehran, Iran this Friday for 3 weeks??

That's right! After the legendary "Return Home to Iran" trip of 1999 and 7 years of broken promises to return, I am boarding a red-eye flight from Heathrow and arriving at Mehrabad airport at the crack of dawn Saturday morning. My grandmother will meet me and whisk me away into the morning light and I will surely be wide-eyed with my face and fingers pressed against the car window... trying to hold on to what I see with my fingertips as much as with my memory.

By noon, it will be a balmy 104 degrees (43 degrees Celsius) and I will probably wonder where the closest beach is and how to get there... but Maman will surely take my mind off things with some fresh watermelon juice and her signature dolmehs, or stuffed grape leaves. In fact, she called me today to say that she had all of the ingredients prepared...

All of this to say, "Stay tuned"!

I will be updating this site regularly and using it as a repository for images and impressions of my trip. Although Maman doesn't have an internet connection at home (made up by her satellite TV and non-stop access to Turkish soaps), I anticipate spending some quality time in Tehran's lively internet cafes, called coffeenets.

Lots of potential plans in the works, so more news soon! If anyone wants anything while I'm out there, drop me a line... Otherwise, you may see me on horseback in the mountains around Kerman before you know it.

xx

That's sounds really cool Marjan ;-) By the way I also miss my cool watermelon juices (for some reason British fruits are not what I call fruits!). It is also pretty hot in Greece too, (around 40 Celsius degrees) but we have tones of beaches to "cool" ourselves ;-) . Ahhh dolmehs!!! I really love them, and for some strange reason most people I know, love their grandmother's dolmehs!!!! Isn't that strange? Be well...

Natchula in Iran-when does the motion picture get released??? I am sending my jealousy vibes through the computer-are you getting them? I had a dream last night that you came to visit me. It was such a celebration...I think, without a doubt, that Natchula in San Francisco should be the long-awaited sequel to Natchula in Iran. Lots going on here-email to catch up. As usual-so psyched for you and much love.
