Back from Kerman and Off to Kish Island

Greetings from North Tehran! I am at my cousin Maryam's house (photos to follow - I promise!!!!! Just not from a 56k connection...) and we are momentarily setting out to Darakeh, a scenic mountainside resort area with plentiful restaurants where we will feast on traditional Persian food under the stars!!!

Got back from my trip to the West of Iran (the city of Kerman and its surrounding mountains) on Saturday and have spent the past few days running around Tehran visiting family and hitting some cultural sites. This morning, I went to Tehran's Contemporary Art Museum (featuring a major exhibit on Iranian photography) and this afternoon I checked out the new Iranian Film Museum (recently made famous by Sean Penn's visit there! Check out his series written for the San Francisco Chronicle).

Am off to Kish Island in the Persian Gulf tomorrow night for 4 days of rest and relaxtion Islamic Republic-style. This will be a foray into new territory, as I hope to go wakeboarding, fully clothed to meet local regulations!! The James River and Captain Murphy's boat, it is not!!

Time is flying by as I will be back in London late next week...

Love to all and hope to check in again on Monday! xx

Ok, we went to Darakeh last night. It was cool. Apparently Marjan loved the Shishlik kabab (ribs) that she had!

This afternoon we are taking off to Kish Island. I can't wait. Just imagine Marjan in Islamic swimsuit (covered from heat to toe) while wakeboarding! I promise, I will take tones of pictures of that scene since I'm sure you don't want to miss it!
