This keyboard is slightly iffy so I don't know how much i will type... the shift key only works when it wants to!
spent the day walking around karimabad and taking it all in. if i haven't mentioned it before, i am in hunza valley which is surrounded by 7,000 meter mountains (the most famous being Rakaposhi at 7,788m). looking around, it feels like paradise. there are tall poplar trees and apricot trees everywhere, and friendly locals. overlooking the town is a fort called baltit fort, built 800 years ago and home to the local Mir until 50 years ago. it is now a conservation/heritage showpiece and a delight to visit, especially for the spectacular views if offers of the valley below.
talked to local trekking companies and learned a bit more about the area we want to visit. tomorrow we'll try to firm up plans and go to the nearby town of passu and then shimshal itself...
sending everyone lots of love and happy thoughts!
