Oh my! Where to begin?????
Ok, I am nibbling on a loaf of sweet bread in the first internet cafe I have seen since August 11. In fact, there hasn't been electricity or a phone connection either. Shimshal Valley was all that I thought it would be and MORE. But I will expand on this when I have the time, because as it stands I must go to the Gilgit bus depot and catch a bus for the 24-hour journey back to Riwal Pindi, then back to Lahore, Amritsar and Delhi.
No problems thus far. Friendly folks and hopefully some really interesting research into an area that was literally a 3-day walk across rivers and gorges (and from the closest "town") in 2003!
